What a birthday gift. The weather has cleared up and I found out today that I am on the early train out of here.
At this point I will be in a communications blackout and may or may not be
able to keep in touch.
For those following the blog I will update our Exit as soon as I can but
that may be a week or two.
This is the most dangerous part for us. Two reasons. First being that we
are leaving the fortified FOB and traveling cross country. Second is
because we are all going home and may lose our focus and our edge thinking
about what waits on us in the states. So keep us in your prayers for the
next two weeks.
For Carrie, Mom, Amy and Kenny. I am not sure when I can get on SKYPE again
so if you do not hear from me don't worry. It may be a few days.
So until I can get on the net again....So long!

Ron,
Hi! Randomly came across your site via Google looking for a little info on FOB Lightning. Just adopted another soldier thru Soldiers' Angels and wanted to find out what kind of place Lightning is. Great pictures - thanks for sharing.
My condolances on your mother's passing; Sounds like she was a wonderful woman and was clearly proud of you as are American's like me. And what a beautiful family you have. A belated, but heartfelt WELCOME HOME and thank you so much for your service.
Best wishes,
Lisa
